Branded executive seating only. Vitra Eames Soft Pad £300, Herman Miller Embody £200, Steelcase Gesture £150, Aeron Remastered £250. We are honest about generic "executive leather" — most has no resale value and we will tell you straight.
The honest version of executive chair buyback: most chairs labelled "executive" in the UK secondary market have no resale value. Generic high-back leather chairs from contract-market suppliers — the kind specified in 2,000-square-foot solicitor's offices and regional bank branches — were never built for resale and the secondary market does not want them. What does resell well is branded executive seating: Vitra Soft Pads, Embody, Gesture, premium Aeron Remastered configurations. Below is the honest split.
Per chair, Grade A, on collection. Authenticated against manufacturer plaques.
Plus Knoll Generation, Cassina, B&B Italia, Boss Design Kruze, Senator Crew, Wilkhahn ON, Allermuir Mascot at quoted rates. Send a photo and we'll firm up the number.
Generic high-back executive leather chairs — unbranded, often Chinese-manufactured for the UK contract market, the kind that show up in 100,000+ UK boardrooms — have no meaningful resale market. Refurbishing leather is expensive (£60–£90 in materials and labour per chair) and used buyers are unwilling to pay above £80 for an unbranded refurbished leather chair. The maths does not work.
For these chairs we recommend two routes: (1) donation to a local charity, school, or community group — many will collect for free; we can put you in touch with vetted charity furniture partners. (2) Bundle them into a wider clearance and we will collect at parts-grade rates (£20–£40 per chair) to recycle the leather and frame separately.
We tell you this upfront because it is what we would want a supplier to tell us. No point pretending to value chairs that do not have a market.
Common shape: a partner is leaving / the firm is downsizing / the floor is being refurbished. 4–8 boardroom chairs to clear, plus 2–4 partner-office chairs, plus often a meeting chair set in the breakout. We treat it as a single quote, single pickup, single BACS. Authentication done from photos before booking, prices firm before we mobilise.
Honestly — usually no, or at very low rates. The vast majority of "executive leather" chairs in UK boardrooms are unbranded, made for the contract market, and have no resale demand. Refurbishing leather is expensive and the second-hand market for unbranded leather executive chairs is essentially zero. We will buy them at parts-grade rates (£20–£40) if bundled with a larger order; standalone we tend to recommend a charity donation.
Branded boardroom chairs from Vitra (Eames Soft Pad EA 217 / 219 — £300, Meeting chair from £175), Herman Miller (Embody — £200), Steelcase (Gesture — £150), and high-spec configurations of Aeron Remastered (£250). Plus Knoll Generation, Cassina, B&B Italia executive task chairs at quoted rates.
Look at the underside for a manufacturer plaque. If it says Vitra, Herman Miller, Steelcase, Knoll, Cassina, or B&B Italia, it is worth selling. If there is no plaque or just a generic Chinese factory mark, it is probably not worth selling — donation to a local charity is usually the better outcome. Send us a photo of the plaque and we will tell you straight.
All buyable. Boss Design Kruze, Senator Crew, Wilkhahn ON, Allermuir Mascot — quoted individually because the configurations vary so much. Typically £40–£90 per Grade A chair depending on spec (mesh vs upholstery, standard vs premium fabric).
Yes — small mixed clearances are common. A typical executive-tier buyback is 4–6 Soft Pads in the main boardroom, 2 Aerons or Embodies in adjacent partner offices, occasionally an Eames Lounge in the senior partner's suite. We pick up as a single trip, BACS within 3 working days.
Yes, honestly. Many UK boardrooms have replica Soft Pads (Vitra-licensed look-alikes, often by mid-tier contract suppliers). We can usually tell from photos: real Vitra Soft Pads have the manufacturer plaque on the spider base, matched leather panels with manufacturer codes, and consistent piping. Replicas miss one or more of these. We will tell you what you have before quoting.
